Peru

Peru is rightly one of the world’s top destinations for trekking aficionados. Its marvellous mountains – and especially the Cordillera Blanca and the Cordillera Huayhuash – offer vistas of stunning rocky landscapes and glacial lagoons the colour of turquoise, where contact with nature is juxtaposed with the remains of ancient civilizations, like the city of Cuzco and the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

But Peru also boasts 4% of the world’s freshwater resources. It is here that the Amazon rises, with its tangle of impenetrable forests populated by surprising fauna, the immense expanse of Lake Titicaca, and the incredible biodiversity of nature reserves like Manu and Rio Abiseo National Parks.
